Overview

His practice spans mergers and acquisitions, investments and fund structuring, corporate and commercial advisory, and high-value disputes, with a particular focus on DIFC litigation, arbitration (including construction arbitration) and cross-border enforcement strategy.

He regularly acts on matters requiring careful alignment of onshore UAE law, DIFC common-law principles, and offshore regulatory frameworks. Sameer has extensive experience shaping litigation strategy before the DIFC Courts and coordinating parallel proceedings, arbitration, and recovery actions across multiple jurisdictions. Alongside contentious work, he advises on M&A transactions, joint ventures, restructurings, and investment platforms involving significant regulatory and structural complexity.

Prior to founding SK Legal, Sameer trained and practised with leading international law firms, and has worked extensively opposite top firms on complex and commercially sensitive mandates. He is trusted by multinational corporations, regional groups, and investment-led businesses for his calm judgment, technical precision, and commercially grounded approach to risk.

Recent experience

  • Represented a government entity in an ICC arbitration seated in London arising from a gas processing facility in Oman, involving claims and counterclaims exceeding $110m.
  • Advised the sellers of a UAE-headquartered customer management services group on its $400m acquisition by an international buyer through a Hong Kong acquisition structure, acting as lead UAE counsel on all sell-side legal, regulatory, and structuring aspects.
  • Advised an FSRA-authorised Category 3 investment firm on regulatory perimeter issues and structuring considerations relating to a private asset acquisition strategy.
  • Advised a Dubai Public Authority on claims put forward by a Japanese Contractor related to the construction of a Power Plant.
  • Represented an Australian subcontractor in a DIAC arbitration seated in Dubai relating to delay, variation, and prolongation claims on Concourse 2 of Dubai International Airport.
  • Advised international consultants and contractors on defective design claims arising from hospitality, industrial, and infrastructure projects across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain.
