Overview

Kanishka Dasmohapatra’s work spans high-value commercial litigation, multi-jurisdictional disputes and cross-border corporate structuring, with particular expertise in the application of DIFC law.

He has represented high-net-worth individuals and multinational corporations in proceedings exceeding €100m, including leading coordination with foreign counsel and managing parallel proceedings strategies across several mandates, particularly in London, Singapore and Geneva.

Alongside his disputes practice, Kanishka advises on corporate structuring and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on financial services. His experience includes advising on regulatory perimeter issues under the DFSA and FSRA frameworks, as well as cross-border investment structuring and risk allocation.

Before moving to Dubai, Kanishka served as Legal Counsel to an ADB-funded asset management company in India, advising on credit structuring, lease securitisation and technology partnerships. In his earlier law firm practice, he advised South Asian fintech and edtech clients on venture capital and private equity transactions from seed through growth stages.

  • Acted for a publicly listed multinational services group in a DIFC trial, defending claims exceeding €100m arising from multi-jurisdictional subcontracting arrangements linked to government visa-processing concessions.
  • Acted for an individual claimant in a complex DIFC dispute arising out of a success-fee and consultancy arrangement linked to long-running foreign litigation, with claims exceeding £4.5m.
  • Acted on a $2m DIFC dispute concerning exclusive franchise rights relating to a premier South Asian T20 cricket league, involving cross-border sports investment and regulatory arrangements.
  • Advised a high-net-worth individual on a developer’s inaugural joint venture, involving equity investment with a major UAE real estate group.
  • Advised an FSRA-authorised Category 3 investment firm on regulatory perimeter issues and structuring considerations relating to a private asset acquisition strategy.
  • Advised a DFSA-authorised Category 4 wealth management firm on the application of the DFSA financial promotions regime, including cross-border and UAE mainland considerations affecting retail-facing communications.
